When in San Fran… Sew a faux leather vest.

In San Francisco on a “business trip” (imagine that I can actually call it that) for by post street

This trip is all about my art but I admit I had an itching to get stitching. So despite a long to-do list, I happily accepted my friend’s plea for help re: a Madonna Equestrian Vest for his upcoming trip to Burning Man.

Britex Fabrics on Geary Street is a dream of a shop and going in there with a supply list was satisfying indeed.

It’s Sunday afternoon with our cozy place in the Castro to myself and I really should be out there walking the neighborhood and hanging out in coffee shops, but instead I’m streaming Netflix and patching together a vest… And finding it a very lovely way to spend the afternoon!

Today’s sock project [from my cornucopia bin of delicious socks bought on March 11, 2012 at Sockshop on Haight] is a sock monkey made from my fave OZONE SOCKS!

This sock monkey asks you daily- WHAT WILL YOU SAY YES TO TODAY?

This question is from a great journal/life skill exercise by my dear friend, Nancy Kirkpatrick.  I encourage you to ask yourself that question regularly.  To REINFORCE the lessons of the exercise, I REINFORCED the seams of the sock monkey as visual reminders that moving forward in a healthy way takes a step or a stitch at a time.

Today’s sock project from my cornucopia bin of delicious socks bought recently at Sockshop on Haight is a sock cat in pjs and his best friend, a sock bird!

I'm cold...

I'm lonely...

That's better!

The red-heeled sock cat reminds you to take a look at your habitual routines and make some fresh changes, as well as to be more flexible in your thinking. And this is best done in PJs! The sock bird reminds you take time for yourself sometime, stay home and be surprised by the rejuvenating powers of simple comforts!
